On your phone's keyboard, you will find a police officer, an emergency worker, and a detective in your emojis- all males. If you look at the females on the keyboard, there is a bride, a princess and a dancer. Google wants to change that.

"Google wants to increase the representation of women in emoji," stated Google. “Our proposal is to create a new set of emoji that represents a wide range of professions for women and men with a goal of highlighting the diversity of women's careers and empowering girls everywhere.”

According to AdWeek, 92% of online consumers use emoji and of that user base, 78% of women are frequent emoji users with 60% of men.

The emojis proposed by the company include women in business, healthcare, science, food service, and even a rockstar.

Unicode, who is responsible for approving new emojis released a broader range of skin tones last year after being criticized for a lack of diversity.

If Google gets these #WomenPower emojis approved, they will be out in 2017.
