The life of the beautiful Dayanara Torres has been a roller coaster of emotions and no matter what life poses in front of her, the Miss Universe with shocking eyes is always victorious.
Your last battle? A tough fight against skin cancer. Stage 3 melanoma that without a timely visit to your doctor could have cost you your life. After finally finishing her heavy treatments, we asked Dayanara Torres how she did it, during all these months, to continue smiling, not to stop working and to constantly put a light on her disease so that nobody leaves her skin unchecked so soon find some abnormality.
These were the 5 tips that this universal Puerto Rican wanted to emphasize when facing any difficult diagnosis, to emerge victorious against the disease.
1. Giving up is not an option. In my case, the strongest stimulus to get ahead was thinking about my children. To do this, I never allowed depression or doubt to enter my mind. I had to fight for them yes or yes.
2. Find the best doctors within your reach. If you face an illness, talk to people who have had it before, ask around you, consult with different doctors, seek a second or third opinion. Get informed and act fast.
3. Surround yourself with the love of yours. It is time to be loved. Don't feel guilty about asking for help, humbly accept that you can't do everything and let yourself be cared for by family and friends. In my case, my sister's support and my mom's warmth were my greatest blessings. My mom moved with me to be aware of everything and take care of me as only moms know how to do it.
4. Laugh a lot! Comedy is the best therapy. Find music that will lift your spirit, watch comedy movies, read to distract your mind, everything that puts you in a good mood and takes you out of the cloud will have a super positive impact on your mind and therefore also on your health.
5. Look for the positive side of things. In the low moments, which you will surely have, stay positive from the thanks. Every little detail is a blessing and diseases reveal a new appreciation for life … You value everything with another dimension, much more of course, and although you may not believe it now, your illness is bringing you many blessings. In my case, my illness brought me a lot of desire to live and to reconnect with the unconditional love of my friends and my family, something that we often forget and, as they say in English, we take it for granted.
Thanks Dayanara! We send you a big hug and we await your prompt and definitive recovery. Lots of strength!
