Today, the first case of person-to-person spread of the coronavirus in the United States was confirmed, being the sixth patient to suffer from the disease within the country.
According to the CDC, Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the infection occurred between a married couple. The wife recently arrived from China and she passed the virus on to her husband.
Both are hospitalized and it is being investigated what other people may have been close to the couple these days, although it was reported that neither had recently been accompanied by a large number of people. Health personnel who were in contact with them are also being monitored.
Work is already underway on the new outbreak vaccine, which is highly contagious and can lead to death, especially in the elderly. The symptoms of the disease are fever, cough, and shortness of breath. The incubation period is estimated to take from two to fourteen days.
Experts say that it is spread like a common flu and to avoid it they recommend avoiding contact with sick people and washing our hands often with soap and water. To avoid transmitting it, it is important to cover our mouths when coughing and sneezing with our forearms. If you cover your hands, then don't forget to wash them with soap immediately afterward.
The states of the USA where the six existing cases are concentrated are distributed among California, Illionis, Arizona and Washington. Also today, the World Health Organization declared a global state of emergency, with more than 8,200 infected around the world. In this way, economic and political supports that help contain the spread of the disease are more easily mobilized.
