A day after the Mexican actress and singer Susana Zabaleta deleted a tweet about the health of singer José José, spokesmen for the artist confirmed that he underwent surgery to combat pancreatic cancer.
"They already operated on him, he came out, he is wonderful, he is recovering and everything is fine, he is cancer-free, he no longer suffers from that disease," said Laura Núñez, the singer's public relations, in statements reproduced by the Mexican newspaper El Universal.
The surgery was not scheduled, they did the studies very early, we came to the previous routine studies to do the surgery in the future, but since everything was already favorable and coincided with the expectations of the surgeon José José told them: 'At once, fan yourself,'”the spokesperson continued.
Núñez also revealed that the operation was carried out on Monday at the National Institute of Medical Sciences and Nutrition in Mexico City.
On the other hand, he confirmed that it was directed by Dr. Carlos Chan and had lasted "more than four hours."
The information would coincide with Zabaleta's mysterious tweet. “I ask you for a prayer, a meditation, a thanks to # PríncipeDeLaCanción. Tomorrow my great friend and great surgeon Dr. Chan operates it, at 9:00 am. Let us pray for him and for what he has given us,”he said in his message.
After a wave of rumors, the Mexican singer had to confirm last March that he had cancer. "They found a tumor in my pancreas, which is what has caused me to be so skinny," José José said in a video he shared on his Facebook.
