Without a doubt, most of us are or have been addicted to sugar at some point. Last year the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released a statistic showing that Hispanics are 50 percent more likely to die of diabetes than someone white. The average person can consume the equivalent of 22 tablespoons of sugar in one day!
This excessive consumption creates an exaggerated insulin secretion, which in turn leads to obesity, diabetes, and heart disease over time. If you want to get rid of this addiction and improve your health, my recommendation is that you do it in steps as I explain in my book Improve your health little by little (Aguilar).
