After having seen closely the death from the influenza that he suffered in 2018, Adamari López promised to take better care of himself. The co-host of Un Nuevo Día (Telemundo) and WW ambassador posed for the new cover of People en Español and spoke exclusively with the magazine about her health plans for 2020 and the great scare that happened during the coronavirus pandemic. "Everything is a motivation, everything I have had to live with. Diseases are something you don't want to have," reflects the 48-year-old Puerto Rican actress, a survivor of breast cancer. "I try to be more aware of taking care of myself physically and emotionally."

However, something beyond his control put his health at risk again. In late February, he traveled to California to participate in Oprah Winfrey's 2020 Vision Tour, where he shared with Winfrey and other celebrities at the Forum in Los Angeles. There she spoke to the thousands of attendees at the event about her pleasant experience as the Latin ambassador for the WW program. Attendees at that WW-sponsored event included Jennifer Lopez and actress Rita Wilson, wife of actor Tom Hanks, who days later would announce to the world that she and her husband had caught the coronavirus. López commented on this news on her morning show and had to test for the virus herself because she was in the same place as Wilson, who tested positive for Covid-19.

After having a severe flu like her 5-year-old daughter Alaia, at the beginning of March - fearing that she was one of the many infected people globally - López underwent a COVID test in Miami19, putting her loved ones on edge and his faithful followers while he waited for days for the results and stayed at home in quarantine. "Everyone is scared, they want them to just do the coronavirus vaccine," he says. "After I got sick a year and a half ago - and having been in such a compromising situation in terms of health - of course I worry, of course I think that a similar situation can happen to me again, and I don't want it or I wish it to no one, so I have taken precautionary measures”. Fortunately, López's result was negative, and this was just one more scare in his life full of scares.

Becoming part of the WW family - along with Oprah Winfrey - is part of that promise Lopez made to herself to take better care of her health. "Joining WW together with Oprah and the entire team as a Latina ambassador has been spectacular," she says. And the results are already obvious! Since meeting with a WW coach in January and starting a new diet regimen - based on counting daily points that are equal to calories - he's lost about 10 pounds. Her regimen includes more vegetables and salads. "It is what I try to eat first before eating something that can make me fat," admits López, who shares in detail her diet and exercise plan in this new edition.

While you still have about 20 pounds to reach your ideal weight of 120 pounds, you don't lose focus. “I see the change in the clothes, from the sizes I was putting on to now, there is a big difference. I think you can see and feel it in my measurements,”he says of his renewed figure. Feeling more vital and energized is the best reward. "My health is fine," he says. "All my exams have come out normal." To take care of himself emotionally, he started seeing a psychologist in November. “I felt that I was too controlling - at home, with the girl, with the husband, with things at work - and I felt that I had to let go and I didn't know how either. So I went back to therapy and it came in very handy because it gives me tools. I think it has helped me calm that emotional part and find that balance."

The Puerto Rican also shares exclusively details of her upcoming wedding with the Spanish choreographer and dancer Toni Costa, and talks about her desire to become a mother again. "We are super committed to our love and working for the relationship every day," she says, who will let Costa choose where they will spend their honeymoon once the global pandemic of Covid-19 allows them to travel again. After quarantining with Her partner, López concludes: "We understood again that we are a team, that we are together, that we want to continue walking in the same direction, that we can complement each other."
