Shakira, who is pregnant with her second child, stressed the importance of developing learning in children from an early age with activities as simple as singing, speaking, reading and playing. The Colombian singer also assured exclusively for People en Español that she is very happy with her experience as a mother and shared some tips from this facet of her life.

"I think it has to be a balance between time to play, discover the world around and activities more specifically designed to teach," said the singer about the ideal way in which children should start their learning. "Any method depends on a lot of interaction between the mother or the father and the child."

One of the tips Shakira shares with new mothers is "savor every little moment, sleep when you can without [feeling] guilt, and try not to worry about little things … this stage in your child's life will fly away."

The singer revealed that her son Milan Piqué's favorite toy has been the ball for a while, to which Shakira adds “it is clear who it came out of!”, Referring to her partner, Gerard Piqué, a player of FC Barcelona member of the Spanish soccer team. “They play everything, but especially with the ball or in the pool. He has been very fond of water since he was very young,”says Shakira about her son and father's favorite games.

The multiple Grammy award winner recently unveiled a collaboration with the toy company Fisher-Price in which a 12-episode web series for moms will be created while simultaneously developing a new line of toys. "All the benefits that I can collect from this collaboration will go to the [Pies Descalzos] foundation, to build more ECD centers in Latin America and develop more programs," Shakira said in a statement.
