A 64-year-old woman was stabbed to death by her ex-fiance in New York after the victim apparently returned her engagement ring.
The victim identified as Gabrielle Gottlieb had argued with her boyfriend and went to a liquor store on Third Avenue in Manhattan for help, where she was stabbed by John L. Foster, a police source told People.
Gottlieb was taken by ambulance to the nearest hospital, where she died from the injuries.
The same source confirmed to People that Gottlieb had returned the ring to Foster that same night following an argument between the couple.
"You will pay for this," says The New York Daily News, which Foster said before pouncing on his ex-girlfriend.
"Police responded to a 911 call from a person assaulted with a knife inside a liquor store located at 333 3rd Avenue and upon arrival, officers discovered a 64-year-old woman with a stab wound to the chest," the statement said. New York Police.

According to the Daily News, after allegedly committing the murder, Foster fled to a roof of a building, where he threatened to jump into the void while the police negotiated his delivery until the wee hours of the morning. At around 3:00 in the morning, the suspect turned himself in and was arrested.
