The coronavirus pandemic has swept through everything: from the thousands of deaths it has caused around the world, to the devastating effect it has had on the global economy and everyone's finances.
Curiously, thanks to the name of the virus, the crisis also seems to have affected the prestige of Mexican Corona beer, since according to studies revealed in early March, surveys indicated that it had suffered a negative impact from the pandemic.
To make matters worse, this Thursday Grupo Modelo - the beer house that produces the alcoholic beverage - announced that they will stop manufacturing the iconic golden beers.
But don't panic: the cause would be the coronavirus. The halt is due to the fact that the government authorities in Mexico have issued instructions that all those companies or businesses that are not "essential" cease their commercial activities as much as possible to avoid the spread of COVID-19 in Mexico.
The negative news has been the subject of even memes and jokes on networks:
According to a CNBC report, the company announced that the suspension of the production of Corona, Coronita and all the other beverages they produce and that are exported to more than 180 countries will cease from this Sunday.
But don't panic! The measure is only temporary and as soon as the crisis subsides, production of the bubbly drinks will resume. Hopefully we can all say cheers!
