On the 25th anniversary of the death of Tex-Mex music legend Selena Quintanilla, a video is circulating on social networks in which Beyoncé Knowles talks about the memorable moment when she met the late Mexican-American singer.

In the video of the interview granted years ago to the MTV network, the interpreter of "Crazy in Love" recalled that she was a follower of the late legend and recounted how excited she was when she first saw her in a Texas shopping center. He also acknowledged that she was a little shy, so he just greeted the Corpus Christi singer with a simple hello.

“I met Selena at Galería Mall [in Houston], but I didn't say much because I wasn't famous [then]. I just saw her and said hello and kept going,”he said with a smile.

He added that Selena's music influenced his artistic career because he always listened to it when he lived in Texas -Beyoncé was born in Houston- and that although he did not understand all the lyrics of his songs, it did help him a lot to improve his pronunciation in Spanish.

"I think it is a legend. I admire her. She was very talented. Even though she didn't know who I was… I was still so excited that I had the opportunity [to meet her]! "she added.

Twenty-five years after her death, the queen of Texan music continues to make headlines and influence popular culture. Her fans can relive her story through a new series on Netflix, and the Mac company recently announced the launch of a collection featuring the singer's favorite colors, to name a few companies that keep her legacy alive. People en Español dedicated the cover of its latest issue to the ill-fated singer.
