After following the recommendation of the experts and the authorities to stay at home, Elisha Nochomovitz decided to face the confinement in an unusual way: she ran 42 kilometers on her 7-meter-long balcony.

The 32-year-old French athlete said on his social networks that he started with the initiative to train in early March to demonstrate that it is possible to maintain a strong mental attitude despite the difficulties.

“I swear, if I have to run 20 marathons to finish this COVID-19, I would, no problem. I wanted to show you that you can still do sports at home even on the 8th day of the running of the bulls. We must remain mentally strong in this test”, was part of the message he shared on his Instagram account in which he thanked the support given to his project.

Although Nochomovitz is an experienced runner, he stated that doing it from his balcony was one of the most challenging scenarios since the limited space prevented him from gaining momentum and speed, in addition to the constant turns he had to make in the 3,000 laps he made.

The athlete completed his feat in six hours and 48 minutes, breaking a personal record almost double his previous completion time, according to CNN.

French Prime Minister Édouard Philippe ordered non-essential venues to be closed as of March 14, including restaurants, cafes and clubs. In addition, three days later, the closure of its borders was ordered.

The latest figures from the French Department of Public Health show 19,856 cases of contagion, 6,200 of which are concentrated in the city of Paris, Forbes reported.
