Gone are the solemn celebrations of the Week of the Day of Remembrance or Remembrance Day in the UK, with its succession of events in which the royal family is fully involved.
After the controversial video of Harry and Meghan that made rivers of ink flow in which the prince confirmed that he and his brother were going different ways, the expectation of seeing them together again was enormous.
No less expectation aroused the meeting of the royal sisters-in-law, Kate and Meghan. Unfortunately for royals lovers, that moment they were waiting for, first on Saturday at the Albert Hall and then at yesterday's ceremony, never happened. At least, there is no graphic testimony if at some point the four were close to each other behind the scenes.
While during the ceremony on Sunday the princes William and Harry did walk together near Prince Charles, many headlines highlighted the fact that a very serious Meghan Markle was relegated to a second balcony without occupying the preferred place that Kate Middleton had in the main balcony next to the queen and Camilla Parker.
The distant balcony, was it a reproach of Meghan to the queen? Or a punishment of the queen still angry with her after the statements of her controversial interview in Africa?
Nothing to do with personal feelings, as would be expected from British phlegm. The experts affirm that it is all mere protocol. The small balconies of the Commonwealth building do not hold more, hardly three people would fit, unlike those of Buckingham, which are much larger.
Starting with the most important role that Queen Elizabeth obviously plays, alongside her are the Duchess of Cornwall and the Duchess of Cambridge, whose husbands are first and second in line to the throne. In the future, it is most likely that they will both be queens of England at some point.
For that simple reason Meghan was accompanied by Sofia of Wessex, wife of Prince Edward on a nearby balcony.
It is well known that the Countess of Wessex is a very dear person and close to the queen, in addition to Kate's favorite personal shopper.
