Patrick Jones, 25, and Raymond Figueroa, 35, died from the fire caused by the detainees:
At a press conference Eric Kroutil, chief of the Tulare police, asked for calm from the public demanding justice for the terrible event.
The police assured that if the suspects were 17 years old or older, they would be prosecuted as adults, but since they are minors under 14 years of age, California laws establish that they should not be prosecuted in this way, even if their charges are for a serious crime. or violent felonies. "They could face a long sentence. [But] that will not happen in this case”
The minors - whose identities have not been revealed - have denied the allegations and are expected to reappear in court on March 11.
