A young mother in California is charged with murder after giving birth to a dead baby who had traces of methamphetamine in her small body. The mother was identified as Chelsea Cheyenne Becker, 25. CNN reports that the baby was born dead on September 10 from being exposed to this toxic drug while in her mother's womb.
The boy's death has been considered a homicide since the coroner found high levels of methamphetamine in his body, according to an official report. Becker was arrested Tuesday night and is on $ 5 million bail.
The woman pleaded not guilty to the crime. A detective told CNN that Becker's three previous children had also been born with methamphetamine in their bodies. The mother had reportedly previously lost custody of her children due to her drug addiction. The case remains under investigation.
