Nikita Pearl Waligwa, the little actress who played Gloria in the Disney movie Queen of Katwe, died today of a brain tumor at just fifteen.
According to the BBC, Nikita was first diagnosed in 2016, four now. Back then, when the director of the movie Mira Nair found out about his ailment, he immediately set off to raise funds. In this way, she could carry out her treatment in India, since the doctors in Uganda who were treating her assured that they did not have the equipment and means necessary to save her life.
In 2017 everything seemed to have turned out well but unfortunately last year they detected a new tumor that ended up killing him.

Nikita played the friend of the film's protagonist, an inspirational story based on the life of chess player Phiona Mutesi and played by Madina Nalwanga. The film had rave reviews.
Phiona Mutesi was born immersed in poverty in one of the most marginal areas of the Ugandan capital, Kampala. Her dad died of AIDS when she was almost a baby.
