Lupita Nyong'o Mourns Death Of Disney Actress Nikita Pearl Waligwa

Oscar-winning Lupita Nyong'o, castmate of young actress Nikita Pearl Waligwa in the Disney movie Queen of Katwe, mourned the latter's death today. The little actress who played Gloria in the film, died yesterday of a brain tumor at just fifteen years old.

“It is with great sadness that I write about the death of Nikita Waligwa, the sweet, warm and talented girl with whom I worked in the film Queen Of Katwe. She played the role of Gloria with such passion … In real life she faced the enormous challenge of fighting cancer of the brain. My condolences and my condolences go out to her family and her community, who now have to face this prompt farewell. Rest in peace”, wrote the interpreter of 12 Years of Slavery in her post.

According to the BBC, Nikita was first diagnosed when she was twelve years old. When the director of the film, Mira Nair, found out, he began to raise funds so that the little actress could carry out her treatment in India. In her home country of Uganda, the doctors treating her did not have the means to save her life.

After successfully overcoming the disease, last year they detected a new tumor that ended in death. Nikita played the friend of the film's protagonist, an inspirational story based on the life of chess player Phiona Mutesi and played by Madina Nalwanga.
