A woman from Chicago has become the second confirmed case of coronavirus in the United States after testing positive for its presence, the country's Center for Control and Prevention reported Friday.
The lady in her 60s traveled to the Chinese city of Wuhan, considered the epicenter of the outbreak, at the end of last December, and returned to American soil on January 13 without presenting any symptoms. According to specialists, the incubation period can be approximately two weeks.
According to CNN, the patient is isolated in a Chicago hospital and the health authorities rule out that she may have spread the virus after arriving in the country. However, and for prevention, they have limited their contact with friends and family.
The first coronavirus case was confirmed three days ago in Washington state when a 30-year-old man went to the doctor for a test after also returning from Wuhan. The identity of the patients in neither case has been revealed.
Chinese health authorities have so far confirmed that at least 26 people have died and 870 are infected with this new virus, which has spread to countries including Japan, Thailand, Taiwan and South Korea.
