The silence breaks Emile Weaver, a young university student who was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of her newborn daughter. Weaver, 25, was found guilty of killing the baby minutes after the girl was born in the bathroom of her sisterhood headquarters.

The student at Ohio Muskingum University assures that the crime was not premeditated and believes that her punishment has been excessive. Weaver was 21 when she was found guilty in 2016 of aggravated murder, abuse of a dead body, and tampering with evidence. The student gave birth to her daughter Addison in a Delta Gamma Theta sorority bathroom at her university on April 22, 2015. The mother then placed the newborn in a garbage bag and left her outside, killing her from suffocation. The baby's body was found in the trash by other members of the brotherhood.

During her trial, prosecutors argued that Weaver knew she was pregnant and never intended to keep the baby. During her pregnancy, she drank alcohol and smoked marijuana. Weaver told the jury that she was in denial about her pregnancy, and believed the newborn was dead when she put her in the bag.

Weaver assured Elle.com that she had no intention of killing Addison and that realizing the consequences of her actions she felt "like a monster." "Emile believes that she should be punished, but considers that her sentence is extreme," reported Elle.com.
