Teacher Desiree Christina Cartin Rodríguez Accused Of Having Sex With A Minor Student

A teacher in Florida is accused of sexually abusing her 15-year-old student. Desiree Christina Cartin Rodríguez, 27, an English teacher at Doral Academy Preparatory School in Miami, confessed on Friday that she had a love relationship with the minor, The Miami Herald reported.

The alleged sexual contact was videotaped by the student, according to various media. Doral police were alerted to the case after a school employee received an anonymous email telling them about the relationship between the teacher and her student, Local 10 News reported. Police questioned the ninth-grade student who confessed to having had a sexual relationship with the teacher since August 2019 and having recorded several of her encounters on video, WSVN reported.

"The young man took the video, the video was not hidden," said Rey Valdés, a Doral police spokesman. “It was not a hidden camera, she knew there was a video. It can be clearly seen from the proximity of her face to the camera that she knew she was being recorded.” Valdés added that the teacher allegedly confessed to detectives that she "was in love" with her student.

The teacher was reportedly fired from school. The teacher was released from prison after posting bail and is due to return to court on January 21. The case remains under investigation.
