A Louisiana teacher and her police husband were arrested and face rape charges against a 13-year-old minor. According to investigators, they found photos of them with a minor in sexual situations. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children alerted authorities to the couple, who were suspected of possession and distribution of child pornography.
Dennis Perkins, 44, was fired from his job as a sheriff, while Cynthia Thompson Perkins, 34, quit her teaching job. PEOPLE confirmed that Dennis Perkins is in the Livingston Parish Detention Center on a bail for a middle school teacher at Westside Junior High School in Walker, Louisiana.
The school district sent a statement saying it was committed to the safety of its students and that it would be collaborating with authorities in the investigation. It is not yet known whether they will plead guilty or not guilty to the charges against him, or when his trial will begin.
