A mother in New Jersey found her six-month-old daughter covered in bruises and scratches when she went to pick her up at her daycare.
Anari Ormond, 23, received a text message Tuesday about 12:22 p.m. asking her to call the J&A Nursery in Newark, which her baby Zuri Camara has attended since October.
Ormond told People that when he arrived at the nursery they told him that the baby had been "unsupervised with a 2-year-old boy and that during that time that they were not looking at her, the boy bit Zuri three times in the stomach".
The mother, who is a preschool teacher, said that when she arrived at the nursery, the owner told her that she had gone up to the second floor of the school to look for neosporin and had fallen while she had the girl loaded and therefore had bruises.
When Ormond saw his daughter, he had "a red, bruised, swollen and scratched face," along with scratches on his right foot and hand.
"I was in shock and devastated," the mother assured People. "We went straight to the hospital."
There they did a computed tomography and the doctors determined that Zuri had suffered "light trauma to the head."
Leaving the hospital, the mother reported what happened to the police and took photos of her daughter's injuries.
The case, he said, is being investigated by the Newark Police Department and Child Protective Services.
"I felt so weak knowing that my daughter is so vulnerable and there is nothing she can do to defend herself or tell me what happened to her," the mother confessed to People.
