The loss of Walter Mercado has left a very large void in those who loved him, his faithful admirers and, especially, his family. Kind and affectionate as always, her beloved niece Ivonne Benet Mercado answered People en Español's call during these hard times to tell us how the family is.

"We are devastated because he was everything to us, an uncle, a father, a teacher, the boss, because we worked with him too," she explains painfully. “We know that God gave him to us for many years but despite his age he was such a man full of life, with so much energy, so much love, he was our example to follow. It leaves us with a very big void”, she continues, very excited.

For her and the rest of her family, the unforgettable astrologer, contributor to many television and media programs, including our magazine, People en Español, has left an indelible mark on people's hearts. “She gave us an example of love, of being kind, of being charitable, she was a teacher in every sense of the word. There is a lot of pain, we are going to need it”.

His march has been faster than expected. The health mishaps began a year ago, primarily affecting his bones, muscles, spine, and back. He had better stages but also relapses, until in recent months he had already dropped quite considerably.

"At one point the doctor started visiting him at home, he no longer wanted to go out. And in one of the visits, the doctor said that he had to be hospitalized because he had kidney failure,”confirms Ivonne. "That added to his age, to the heart, he had a heart attack in 2012, all those things were against him and it was difficult."

It was Saturday night when Walter couldn't take it anymore and finally left at 87 years old. He left us a lot of wise advice, interesting predictions and, above all, a positivity and joy of life that will always be remembered. The family plans to say goodbye to his height, as he deserves, where his faithful followers can say goodbye.

"There is going to be a funeral, this afternoon we are going to the funeral home to see the details and then be able to report what it will be like," Ivonne told us.
