Nine members of the Los Trinitarios gang, including their alleged leader, Richard Ramirez, were arrested Wednesday in the Bronx, according to police sources.

The dangerous gang is identified as responsible for the murder of the young Dominican boy Lesandro 'Junior' Guzmán-Feliz, 15, who was killed on June 18 outside a store in said New York county.

Ramírez was detained inside an apartment located in the Soundview neighborhood during an operation carried out late at night. At around 6:00 am Ramírez and company were presented in precinct number 41 in the Bronx.

The arrest surprised neighbors in the area. "Oh God! This is incredible. Aren't these the ones from the Los Trinitarios bargain?” exclaimed a neighbor to the New York Post speaking anonymously because of the fear that this group imposes on the area. For his part, a taxi driver identified simply as " William " assured the newspaper that the Richar Ramírez family has lived in an apartment in the neighborhood for 20 years.

Ramírez and the rest of the detainees are believed to belong to the Súres faction, responsible for the massacre that cost Lesandro Ortíz's life. However, his arrest is not directly related to that murder, but to other crimes committed in the Bronx and northern Manhattan.

Five more people are on the run "but we are closing the fence," said Timothy McCormack, a New York police chief who explained that the acts committed by this gang were due to "the gang is seeking to secure their territory."

Lesandro Ortíz was hacked to death on the corner of a store located at 183rd Street and Bathgate Avenue in the Bronx. His bloody murder was captured in a video that went viral and showed the moment when the criminals repeatedly stabbed him with machetes and fled.

After being brutally attacked, the young man ran to the St. Barnabas hospital but began to bleed to death and collapsed on the sidewalk.
