A Minnesota father faces serious murder charges after the death of his 5-month-old baby, who he allegedly threw headfirst on the ground for being "difficult" and not crying.

Matthew Hoisser, 35, of Woodbury Township, was arrested for the death of his son Gus Hoisser. The man was detained inside his home in the 7100 block of Victoria Road on charges of second-degree murder in the boy's death.

The events date back to the night of April 24 when, according to Hoisser, between 7:30 and 10:00 pm he was in the care of his son who was having a bad night. "[The baby] was crying and restless and it became difficult," said a police report released by the Twin Cities Pioneer Press.

Nicole Hoisser, the mother of the baby, said that the next morning her son was much more restless than normal and that he took him to the caregiver, who told him that the baby had only had a few ounces of milk. The caregiver said that at around 10:00 am, she put the baby to nap, but when she went to change her diaper, the minor was "immobile and silent." The woman immediately called 911 and tried to give the creature first aid.

The minor was transferred to St. Paul Children's Hospital and later transferred to Minneapolis Children's Hospital where he died 5 days later. The cause of his death was head trauma. The blow to his head was so tremendous that if the boy had survived, he would have been blind, deaf and paralyzed for life, according to the report. The creature also had bleeding from the spine.

“At some point [the father of the minor] became so frustrated that he intentionally threw the boy head first on the ground… causing him to fall on the floor and hit his head on the ground, scaring [the boy] and causing him to continue crying”, is explained in the report.

Initially, the subject told authorities that the boy had wounded his skull two weeks before dying because, according to him, he was changing his son's diaper on the floor in a part without carpeting and that the baby "stuck so hard with the ground”who was injured as a result. The man claimed to "remember every detail" of that event. Hoisser also admitted that "not always" he had been kind to the baby and that he had been "short" temperamental because it was very difficult and always "had colic."

"Gus was our sweet baby, a source of joy for his parents and loved by all who knew him," he told himself in his obituary. "I loved walking on dad's shoulders and listening to his mom sing, especially [the song]" Rainbow Connection "and he will always be our precious" Snuggamonkey."

"It's just tragic," Commander John Altman of the Woodbury Department of Public Safety observed at the aforementioned site. “It is horrible for the family, for the person who cared for it, for all of us. Here we are all dads, it is a difficult situation to process”.

Judge Ellen Maas posted the defendant's bail as told by Tricia Loehr, assistant district attorney: “If he was able to do this to a 4-month-old boy, the same could be done to his wife and unborn child."
