In another crime in which the family itself ends the life of one of its members, a court in Rochester, New York, found that a woman not only murdered her husband, but later poured acid on her face to leave him unrecognizable. The worst thing of all is that to perpetuate this macabre crime, she had the help of two of her children.
As reported by the AP, on Friday a court in that city ruled that Laura Rideout, 46, and her son Colin, 24, are guilty of the murder of Craig Rideout, 50. The two were also found guilty of tampering with the evidence, and were sentenced to 26 years in prison. The woman also received an additional 15-year sentence for the crime of theft.
Another son of the couple, Alexander, who is 20 years old, was acquitted of the murder charges, but was found guilty of tampering with the evidence alongside his brother. He received a sentence ranging from 2 to 8 years in prison.
In July, the remains of the Rideout patriarch were found wrapped in a tarp in a forest near the Finger Lakes area, New York.
