One of the survivors of the massacre that occurred this Saturday at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas, revealed that he tried to distract the murderer in bottles in his deadly attack that so far has claimed the lives of 22 people.

From his hospital bed Christopher Grant told CNN that he was in the dairy section near the door when he noticed that a man was "giving people lead" in the parking lot. He instinctively reacted and started throwing bottles at the killer to distract him.

Fortunately Grant managed to capture the attention of the subject who began to shoot him. "I bent down and he just … started shooting me bursts," Grant explained. "I was like, 'Oh my God, this guy is shooting at me.'"

The massacre occurred at the hands of Patrick Crusius, a 21-year-old man living in Allen, Texas, who was arrested and is accused of capital murder for the death of the 22 victims left by his attack. Crusius remains detained and without bail.

One of the bullets hit Grant, who described the pain as "if someone had put a grenade on my back and taken off the safety." The man tried to describe the scene and among what he remembers the most is the fact that in the midst of the massacre there were people praying in Spanish and begging the murderer not to kill them.

Grant was able to get out alive after being rescued in an ambulance by Danna Sifford, an agent with the Immigration and Customs Service (ICE) who took him to a medical center where he is now recovering.

By the way, Grant has rejected the praises and the qualifications of 'hero' and you regret the numerous losses of that fateful day. "It's not fair. A little girl saw her parents being killed in front of her,”she lamented with a broken voice. "I just did what a good man would have done, that's all."
