A grand jury indicted three people for the death of Isaiah Geiling, a two-year-old boy who lost his life after being violently attacked by a pit bull dog.

The owners of the animal, Jack Charping Jr., 50, and Sharon Charping, 53, must respond to second-degree murder charges, according to Auxiliary Commonwealth attorney Jeff Cooke. On the other hand, the child's mother, Jennifer Geiling, 25, has been charged with reckless manslaughter.

It should be noted that all of the defendants resided in a home located in Louisville, Kentucky.

It was last May 2 when the infant was attacked by the pit bull at his home in Louisville, two weeks after the canine bit his ear.

Following the incident, the boy's grandmother, Cynthia Coy, rushed to a neighbor's home, knocked on the door and pleaded for help, Shelby Chadwell told WLKY and WDRB television stations. "It was an angry dog," said the witness.

Fearing for the boy's life, Chadwell's cousin ran to the house where the incident was taking place and started scaring the dog with sticks. Once the animal was removed from the crime scene, Chadwell began performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the seriously injured baby.

Officers who came to the home also performed CPR on him, however, the boy lost his life within 75 minutes of entering a nearby hospital, WDRB reported.

"About three weeks ago [the dog] attacked him and bit his ear," said the boy's grandmother. “We even have photos! Obviously the dog had attacked him previously. Why did it happen again? I do not know".
