Police found a newborn girl inside a plastic bag in a wooded area in Georgia. The poignant video of the moment the baby was rescued has gone viral.

The little girl - who authorities have called "Baby India" since her identity and that of her parents is not known - was found on June 6. The video, released by the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, shows the man who discovered the abandoned baby and called authorities.

The man, who lives near the place where the girl was found, says that he heard the little girl crying from her home. He also reveals that his children insisted that it was a baby who was crying, since at first he thought it was an animal.

When opening the plastic bag, the police found a newborn with the umbilical cord still uncut. While they check her to make sure she is not hurt, the little girl grabs the finger of one of the officers. Officers wrap the baby in several blankets before taking her to a nearby hospital in an emergency.

Fortunately, the doctors determined that the girl was in good health.

Police explained that they hope this video they released of the girl's rescue will help them find the mother or some information about this case.

"We are pleased to report that Baby India is recovering and under the care of the Georgia Department of Children and Families," added the authorities. A recent photo of the girl has also been released in hopes that someone will recognize her.
