The body of a two-year-old baby was found Tuesday in Pine Ridge Park in Blairsville, police revealed at a press conference. Authorities confirmed that it is the body of Nalani Johnson, a girl who was reported missing in Pennsylvania. Sharena Nancy, an Uber driver, was accused by the girl's father of kidnapping her on Saturday, running away with her in the car after she left him on location.
Allegheny County Police Department superintendent Coleman McDonough said in a Facebook statement that he sent his condolences to the girl's family. "This is not the end we expected. We will keep the Johnson family in our thoughts."
Sharena Nancy, 25, was arrested and charged with kidnapping a minor and hiding her whereabouts. According to Paul Johnson, the girl's father, the driver fled in the car with the girl after dropping him off near Pittsburgh. When the woman was arrested, the girl had already disappeared, according to the father, in a black Yaris truck. The father alleges that he tried to call Nancy but she never answered him.
The woman has a completely different version of events. Sharena told police that the girl's father had asked her to take the baby with an individual to whom the father had sold her by name. An autopsy will be performed to determine the girl's cause of death. The case is still ongoing and the FBI has been involved in the investigation. If you have any information about this case, please call the Allegheny County Police at 1-833-255-8477. The call may be confidential.
