Amid concerns over the deaths of American tourists in the Dominican Republic, the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino announced that it will remove all alcohol dispensers from their rooms, NBC News reported.

The hotel's decision comes after nine tourists from the United States died in recent months died while on vacation in the Dominican Republic. The famous hotel issued a statement saying they relied on "guest comments" to make the change.

The hotel's general manager, Erica López, told CNN that she hopes the decision "will provide more peace of mind for guests." She stressed that the decision to remove the dispensers was made independently and not as a reaction to the two deaths on the property.

Although causes of death are not clear in all cases, researchers are considering unregulated alcohol as one of the sources.

More than 2 million Americans visit the Dominican Republic each year and the State Department has said that "we have not seen an increase in the number of deaths of United States citizens reported to the department."

Hard Rock also said they will contract with a healthcare facility to provide more comprehensive healthcare for guests.

According to sources in 2018, about 2.3 million North American tourists visited the Dominican Republic, this means 50 percent of the tourism that reaches the nation annually. Given the increasing reports of anomalies, the State Department has taken action on the matter and is already investigating the death of at least nine tourists who died there.
