The chilling discovery of a newborn baby, with the umbilical cord still uncut, inside a washing machine in Thailand, has shocked the world. The boy was found in a washing machine outside a store in Krabi, southern Thailand. The owner of the store closed the store and when she returned days later she heard a baby cry. Sangduen Khaorueng, 47, assumed the sound was coming from a neighbor's house, but when she started searching she found the boy inside a washing machine and alerted authorities, Daily Mail reported. Rescuers estimate that the baby could be about five days old and was abandoned after birth.
When the police and paramedics arrived, they found the baby in good health, but very hungry. The newborn was wrapped in a towel inside the washing machine. If authorities fail to find the boy's mother, he could be sent to an orphanage. The owner of the store said that she had closed the store on Friday and had not returned until Monday, so it is not known how many hours - or days - the baby was in the appliance.
Police Lt. Sanya Kaewnui revealed that the baby had been sent to a local hospital, where he is being treated. "It is fortunate that he was crying or no one would have noticed that he was in the washing machine," he said, adding that if his biological parents are not found he will be put up for adoption.
