R. Kelly Faces 10 Charges Of Sexual Abuse

Singer R. Kelly was eventually charged in court with ten counts of sexual abuse, according to reports.

After a vast investigation following the statements of multiple victims, the romantic interpreter was indicted on Friday morning in a Cook County court in Illinois, according to The Chicago Sun-Times newspaper.

Sources close to the case said that prosecutors would go before the judge on the same Friday afternoon, to try to obtain a signed arrest warrant and thus arrest the famous interpreter, according to PEOPLE.

According to the CBS network, nine of the ten charges against him identify the victims between 13 and 16 years of age. He also added that the charges are Class 2 felonies, which are punishable by between three and seven years in prison, with a fine of up to $ 25,000.

The singer's attorneys have not commented on the charges, however Kelly has denied all allegations of sexual abuse or inappropriate conduct against him.

When the news was released, the lawyer Michael Avenatti, used his social networks to express his relief.

"It's over," he wrote on his Twitter account.

Avenatti had claimed to have released a recording to authorities of Kelly having sex with a minor, as key evidence in the case.

"After 25 years of assault, assault and serial sexual abuse of underage girls, the day of truth has come for R. Kelly," she added.

In the summer of 2017, Kelly was accused of controlling aspiring women singers in an alleged religious cult, where he apparently recorded them holding sexual acts that he later showed to his friends.

The singer's lawyers denied all the accusations and claimed that the reports were only intended to damage the image of the famous artist.
