A couple of suicidal friends planned down to the smallest detail to die together in a hotel in New York.

Last Thursday, David Koenig, 33, and Ellen O'Meara, 30, were found dead by service personnel in a room at the Yotel in western Manhattan. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

As reported by The New York Post, employees found a sheet hanging in front of the door blocking the view of the room - before finding the tragic scene of suicide - with a note and tip attached to a sheet of paper.

Other sources revealed to the publication that the book Suicide and Suicide Attempt: Geo Stone Methods and Consequences was found in the room. The book was marked in the choking section.

In addition, in the room, two large envelopes with each other's wills were found.

Koenig and O'Meara were avant-garde musicians and close friends. Both apparently lived in depression, but no specific reason was linked to suicide.

According to details that emerged over the weekend, the couple checked into the hotel on Thursday. The same day, around 7 pm they were found dead with a plastic bag on their two heads.

"His friends were very upset, but not surprised," said a police source.

"It's almost as if [they knew] from day one that these two people met," about a year ago, "they knew they were going to die together."

The relationship between the two was not immediately specified. According to an O'Mara neighbor to the Post, she was married and had recently moved.
