A 28-year-old babysitter allegedly killed a baby as young as 2 months old, before hiding her death by dressing him in thick winter clothing, tying him to the child's car seat, Wisconsin police allege.
The note published by People indicates that the woman pretended that the baby was alive while she was going to deliver it to her parents. Online court records, which were accessed by People, confirm that Marissa Tietsort was charged with first-degree manslaughter on Friday.
In addition, the note states that Tietsort has been in police custody since October and that she was detained for child abuse. Last Friday a judge doubled the bond to settle with her lawyer, they were unsuccessful on Monday.
The criminal complaint against Tietsort alleges that she knew that the baby that had been left in her care had died, but she did not say anything to the mother when she went to pick him up. A fact that stands out from the People's note is that Tietsort is also the mother of five children, the complaint establishes. An autopsy carried out on the victim - who according to People is only identified as Benson - determined that he died of a severe trauma to the head; read the complaint. Medical examiners also noted severe damage to the coccyx, indicating that the victim was hit with great force. The baby's mother had dropped him off at the Tietsort home in Wausau, WI, on October 18.
