A Long Island mother is accused of trying to poison the father of her children. Holbrook's Renee Burke was in the midst of a bitter divorce process and legal battle for custody of her children when she attempted to kill her husband. Prosecutors allege that the woman entered her house without permission and tried to poison her drinks with antifreeze.

The 40-year-old woman allegedly entered Matthew Burke's house without permission on three different occasions in September to poison his drinks and asked for the help of his 8-year-old daughter, who was the one who loaded the antifreeze, according to case documents obtained by Daily News.

The first incident occurred on September 6 when Matthew alleges that a glass of wine was served and noted that the drink tasted of a chemical. The man immediately spit out the drink and noticed a strange smell.

Then the children's babysitter told the father that her 4-year-old son had confessed to her: "Mommy came in and put something in Dad's drink," according to the prosecution. On September 10, Matthew felt another chemical taste as he took a glass of Pepsi.

After this second incident, the police recommended that the man put security cameras outside his home. According to the prosecution, on September 12 it was captured on video how Renee allegedly poured a pink liquid that she carried in two baby handles that her daughter was holding in a bottle of wine.

The police arrested Renee. Authorities found antifreeze in the Pepsi bottles and Matthew's wine, the same type of pink antifreeze they found in the wife's kitchen.

The woman had Googled "What car fluids can kill a human?" Says the prosecution. Renee's attorney said in court that the woman denies all the allegations and says that the father of her children set her up. The case is still ongoing.
