A child's game with a gun ended in a tragic accident. A boy seriously injured another 7-year-old boy in Pahokee, South Florida. The minors were playing with a firearm at their home on Shirley Drive, local press reported. Christmas time took an unexpected turn for this family Wednesday night when the accident occurred.

According to local channel ABC 10, the case is still under investigation and police are still seeking answers on how the minors had access to the bullet-laden firearm. The identities of the minors and their relatives have not been revealed. A spokeswoman for the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office reported: "The two boys were playing with a gun when one of them was shot and hit the other."

The little boy, who was seriously injured, was taken by emergency helicopter to a Palm Beach hospital, where he remains in critical condition under medical treatment. The unfortunate event has moved the entire community.

In 2018, several cases of minors with firearms ended in tragedy. In April, a three-year-old girl killed her pregnant mother after shooting her with a firearm. As NBC reported, the little girl found the gun in the family's car and shot her mother in a parking lot at a shopping center in Indiana. The bullet pierced the front seat of the car, injuring the mother, who was six months pregnant, and the shooting was fatal.
