Five days after his mother allegedly shot him in the head, Kloee Tolivar, 16, died in an Oklahoma hospital. Although they were unable to save her, the teenager's organs will be donated and save eight lives, according to her doctors. On November 1, Kloee's mother Amy Leann Hall allegedly shot her 18-year-old son Kayson and Kloee in their sleep.
According to authorities, Hall, 39, also shot his 14-year-old youngest daughter, who was in the same room as Kloee, injuring her in the head and neck. Her youngest daughter managed to escape and hide in the bathroom, where she was able to convince her mother to leave the gun, according to reports from authorities.
"She was able to calm her down," Okmulgee County Investigator Duston Todd told PEOPLE. "That is heroic, facing someone who tried to kill you." A friend of Kayson's who was sleeping in her room called the police and told her what had happened. "This was something that happened for the moment," adds Todd of the tragedy. "No one expected it. Everyone was surprised."
After the shooting, the mother fled in her car but was chased by the police for several miles until she was arrested. Hall faces first-degree murder charges and charges of intentional shooting. The mother will have to appear in court on November 29. Her youngest daughter is in stable condition.
Todd describes the incident as an indescribable act of violence: "It is pure evil." According to an affidavit obtained by PEOPLE, Hall initially told police that he did not know why he had shot his children. She then allegedly told authorities that she was protecting them from her husband, from whom she was divorcing and who she claimed had been abusive. "A part of me thought I was saving them," he said.
