Through an operation called "Open House," the New Jersey state police apprehended two dozen subjects - including a police officer and a firefighter - who allegedly cheated on children by seducing them through Fortnite game and other applications.

This Tuesday, Gurbir Grewal, the state's attorney general, presented at a press conference the faces of the 24 alleged sexual predators who were discovered by undercover detectives from the New Jersey Police Internet Crime Unit.

The defendants reportedly posed as teenagers and engaged in online conversations with children to convince them to engage in sexual acts. In addition to the aforementioned Fortnite game, the subjects used Tinder, Wishbone, Kik, Minecraft, Tumblr and 18 other applications.

The detainees are: Richard Conte, a resident of Farmingdale; firefighter Richard Hoffman, from the town of Mays Landing; Christopher Vargas of Toms River; Geriatric resident Thomas Graciano, a Brick resident; Thomas Fuller, a Toms River medicine technician; Barnegat resident Anthony Perfidio; Toms River Brian Degnan; Nabindranauth Nandalall of the Bronx; William D. Davis, 23, of Bayville and security manager Mina Beshay, of the town of Monroe Township, among others.

"It is a terrifying reality that sexual predators are milling around on social media, lurking and ready to attack if they find a child who is vulnerable," said Grewal, who asked the public to remain vigilant against the dangers of the Internet. "If your child looks anxious or evasive when told about his online habits," said the prosecutor, "that may be an alarm."
