Chris Watts, accused of killing his pregnant wife and two daughters, offered his version of events to the police. The affidavit, obtained by PEOPLE, tells his version of events. According to Chris, 33, who is accused of murdering Shannan Watts, 34, and his daughters Bella, 4, and Celeste, 3 - he was angry to see his wife strangling one of the girls.
The father - who gave interviews to local television channels asking for help finding his missing wife and daughters - was arrested after authorities found the bodies of the victims at an oil and gas company where Chris worked before being recently fired. Chris remains in police custody and faces charges of first-degree murder.
Chris Watts alleges, according to this affidavit, that after telling his wife that he wanted to separate from her, he saw on a camera to monitor babies how his daughter Bella was sprawled in bed and looked blue - as if she was already dead - and “Shannan was strangling Celeste. Chris alleges that is why he was furious and killed Shannan, disposing of all three bodies. Crime has shocked the entire country.
Although Chris alleges that it was his wife Shannan who killed their daughters, Shannan's family said in a statement that Chris was the one who killed their two daughters and their pregnant wife in cold blood: "Shanann Watts, his unborn son, and his two angelic daughters, Bella (4), Celeste (3) were cruelly murdered by her husband Chris Watts; who confessed to the murders."
