A lawsuit filed in the state of Massachusetts claims that employees of the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) gave interviews to undocumented immigrants - who were seeking legalization in the country - and at the same time notified the Service Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to be arrested upon arrival at the offices.

According to information about the case, shared by the CNN online site, the USCIS establishes that as one of its policies that people have the right to attend interviews without fear of being arrested, even if they do not have documents to legally reside in the country.

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), an organization that is defending 10 people who established the lawsuit, accuses the two government agencies of conspiring to act against the trust of the people who arrived at the offices of the USCIS, calling these interviews “cheats”.

They (USCIS) tell the public that people can go to these interviews and be sure that they will not be arrested, unless they are considered a public threat to national security … at the same time that USCIS ensures this, it works behind people's backs for arrest,”said attorney Matthew Segal.

Additional information on the case adds that several conversations have been revealed between the employees of the two government agencies, in which their conspiracy for the arrests is evidenced.

In the intercepted emails, which are part of the evidence of the case, it is appreciated how the employees of the USCIS and the ICE discuss how to distribute the interview times so as not to generate suspicion among the applicants and at the same time avoid that the press inquires about it.
