A young San Francisco resident who was celebrating her first wedding anniversary was killed by an apparent stray bullet while leaving a restaurant in an upscale Mexico City neighborhood.

The incident happened this Saturday around 5:50 am when Tatiana Mirutenko, 27, was leaving the El Califa restaurant, in the wealthy neighborhood of Las Lomas de Chapultepec.

According to the local newspaper La Jornada, the woman was ready accompanied by her husband, James Hoover, and two other friends. Suddenly, two armed individuals on board a motorcycle began shooting at a 46-year-old man who was allegedly the target of the attack.

The woman received an impact to the head and was transferred to a hospital but they could not save her. The man who was the target of the attack and who was identified as a neighborhood security guard was also admitted, but survived.

"The analysis of the security cameras, carried out by the police, allowed us to see that the aggressors fled to the State of Mexico," the attorney general for Mexico City said in a statement to discuss the investigation. Two suspects are currently being sought in connection with the case.

"A year ago we were choosing flowers for her wedding," Wasyl Mirutenko, the victim's father, exclaimed to the ABC KGO station in San Francisco, referring to her daughter's wedding, celebrated on July 1, 2017.

The body of the young woman from Chicago, Illinois, will be sent to her hometown for her funeral to be held this Saturday morning at the St. Andrew Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the Bloomingdale suburb, as reported in the victim's obituary. Rest in peace.
