With outrage, this is how social network users responded after a video of a woman named Alison Ettel, 44, went viral, reporting an 8-year-old African American girl who sold water on a street in San Francisco to the police., arguing that the little girl did not have a legal permission to do so.
The video, which was recorded by Erin Austin, mother of the little Jordan Rodgers, caused such anger on the networks that the woman in the video tearfully assured the popular morning show Today that she has been the victim of bullying, including serious death threats.
As the Daily Mail revealed about the story, Jordan was selling cold water with the intention of collecting money to take a trip to Disneyland. His mother would have recently lost his job and so he decided to take advantage of a sunny day to offer drinks to fans on their way to a San Francisco Giants game, taking advantage of the proximity of their home to the stadium.
In the recent interview given by the female protagonist of the controversy, she assured that she regretted her behavior and noted that the screams of the little girl offering the water were interrupting her work.
Despite the fact that Ettel claimed to be willing to offer an apology, it seems that the little girl and her mother do not want to know anything about her. "This woman thought she could use her privilege to be white but it did not work for her," Austin said of what happened.
After the controversy unleashed by the images, little Jordan and her mother have received messages of encouragement of all kinds, including that of a musician named Jonathon Brannon, who offered to give the girl tickets so that his family can enjoy from Disneyland.
