A six-year-old boy was left alone locked in a hot car. Police confirmed to PEOPLE that the boy began to cry and sweat when the car reached a temperature of 120 degrees. According to the authorities, apparently his babysitter left the little boy alone. Helen Law, 60, who was caring for the child, was arrested on suspicion of putting a minor in danger.

The boy was hospitalized and has recovered. The minor was able to return to school the next day and is well. Police in Alhambra, California, came to rescue him from the car when a witness called Tuesday to report that there was a child inside a car with the windows closed.

When the authorities measured the temperature inside the car, it was 120 degrees and the boy had to be treated in the hospital for exhaustion due to the heat. According to police, Law allegedly left the boy alone "for almost two hours" in the vehicle "while she was running errands and eating at a nearby restaurant."

Alhambra Lt. Eddie Elizalde added that Law had been hired by the boy's family and the babysitter has no criminal record. The woman will have to appear in court to testify in the case.
