A Kentucky police inspector faces charges after allegedly offering to take a rape victim to her home and instead take her to a motel and demand oral sex.
Detective John W. Nissen, an officer with the Hillview Police Department, was indicted on a Bullitt County grand jury on charges of theft through deceit, witness tampering, and official misconduct, The Pioneer News reports.
Hillview Police Chief William Mahoney confirmed the allegation in a report and stated that his department is conducting its own review of Nissen's alleged actions.
The agent has been suspended.
After the alleged victim was questioned at the police station about an alleged assault last September, Nissen offered to take her home, but instead drove her to the home of the alleged perpetrator of the crime, said Shelly Alvey, county attorney general. from Bullitt, to publication.
Alvey claimed that the alleged victim was apparently under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time.
There, Nissen and the alleged perpetrator of the crime raised money so that the woman could buy a phone at Wal-Mart, after which, the alleged victim said, Nissen drove her to a motel, paid for the room, allegedly asked that I performed oral sex on him and then told him to move to another jurisdiction, Alvey told the publication.
"My review of that statement indicates that he admitted quite a few of the allegations in this case," Alvey told WLKY television station.
The disposition of the alleged rape allegation and the identity of the suspect were not immediately clear.
Nissen has not pleaded guilty and no attorney was identified who could represent him. You must appear in court on Monday.
People's call to the prosecutor was not immediately answered.
After the Hillview Police Department "became concerned about Detective Nissen's alleged actions," the chief reported the matter to the Kentucky State Police, which investigated and reported his findings to the prosecutor, Mahoney said in his report.
"If the allegations against Detective Nissen are true, you can be sure that we will handle the matter appropriately. The alleged conduct does not correspond, definitely, with the values of our agency, "stressed the boss.
In 2015, Nissen appeared on people.com after responding to a 911 call and finding a woman parked by the side of a heavily distressed highway upon learning that her sister had died.
The veteran agent told People on that occasion that he held the woman's hand, let her cry over his shoulder, and spent more than an hour with her in his car, calming her down and arranging for a family member to come pick her up.
"I wanted her to be treated the same way I wanted my family to be treated if I needed help," she said.
