An 85-year-old man who feared dying alone and living his last days without the affection and care of a family decided to put himself up for adoption by announcing himself on the streets of his city.
Han Zicheng's heartwarming story took place in China's Tianjin Province. In December 2017, the former science researcher and survivor of the Chinese cultural revolution decided to find a family to take him in, after years of complaining about his loneliness with his neighbors, according to The Washington Post.
One morning, he decided to post the following sign at a local bus stop: “I am looking for someone to adopt me. [I'm a] man alone in his eighties. With a strong body. You can shop, cook, and take care of yourself. He does not [have] chronic diseases. I retired from a scientific research institute in Tianjin with a monthly pension of $ 950 a month."
According to his testimony, his wife had passed away and had two children, but Zincheng claimed that they did not have much contact; one of them was married and the other lived in Canada.
