Raymond Burk, a 38-year-old man from the state of Arizona, faces charges of kidnapping, physical assault and rape of a 17-year-old girl, who was held against his will for more than a week in 2016.

As revealed by a report from People magazine on his online site, the man would have met the young girl through the Internet, contacting her after she wrote that she was looking for someone to help her escape from her home, since I was depressed.

In his first contacts, Burk would have assured the girl that she was 20 years old, a lie that was evident when the two met in person at the girl's house in the state of Utah.

Despite this, the girl agreed to spend a weekend with him, but soon realized that he had made a serious mistake and that the individual's plans were not to help him escape from his home. The same man reportedly stated that his intention was to retain her "forever" as "a small pet," as explained in the legal documents of the case.

The report adds that on the occasions the young woman mentioned her wishing to be let go, Burk repeatedly beat her. Also, on one occasion the man tied her to a bed while he went to work.

On Monday, two years after the events occurred, a Utah state attorney charged Burk with aggravated first-degree kidnapping and human trafficking. Additionally, the man faces charges in the state of Arizona for sexual contact with a minor, assault with a deadly weapon and kidnapping.
