A young man from Nevada, in love with his girlfriend, decided to ask her to marry him in a romantic moment, but he was shot in the butt because the girl's father had other plans.

Allison Barron and Levi Bliss have been together for two years, and have developed a strong bond since they met at the University. Allison says it didn't take long for the couple to recognize that there was something special between them.

"Once Levi and I started dating, it didn't take long to find out that he was the one for me," Allison, 22, tells PEOPLE. “Everything was so easy with him. I always heard one suspect it, but I never knew if I fully believed it. With Levi, I really knew it."

All that remained was to make it official.

On the morning of March 24, Levi told Allison that they were going to take a quick trip to meet his parents for breakfast. So the two got into their truck and went for a ride, and that's when Levi looked at his girlfriend and asked her to marry him.

"Immediately I started crying, overwhelmed with joy, we got out of the truck and he got down on his knees," recalls Allison, who lives in Winnemucca, Nevada. "You always imagine this moment, and now it was happening to me."

Levi stopped near a place where his two families were hiding on the other side of a nearby hill, waiting for the big moment. Just as Levi was finishing his romantic gesture in front of a beautiful backdrop, Allison's father, Jake, made his appearance by holding up a sign that read, in large capital letters: "SAY NO."

Although Levi asked Jake for permission to hold his daughter's hand in marriage, the 23-year-old had no idea that his future father-in-law would make a joke at the right time.

Later that day, Allison posted photos of the proposal, and the sign, which was taken by her sister, Ashlee Barron to Twitter. Her tweet quickly went viral, earning some 225,000 likes and 66,000 RT. It didn't take long for the hilarious photos to become a meme.
