Cortney Bell, a 24-year-old mother, was detained by Newton County, Georgia, authorities and faces charges for the death of her two-week-old baby girl, who was beaten to death and then abandoned in a forest.
As revealed by People magazine in a report on its online site, the defendant has been charged with the charges of second-degree murder and cruelty against a minor in connection with the death of little Caliyah McNabb.
The terrible Caliyah murder case came to light in November 2016 when Christopher McNabb, the minor's father and Bell's partner, was arrested by local police after fleeing when the minor's lifeless body was discovered in near the residence in which they lived.
Apparently, after ending the life of their little daughter, the couple conspired to tell the authorities a different story. With an emergency call to 911, they reported with anguish the disappearance and possible abduction of their newborn.
After that false report about Caliyah's disappearance, a person who helped in the search found the girl's body among a cloth bag left in some bushes.
Although the primary suspect in the heinous murder was the minor's father at first, Bell's arrest takes a dramatic turn in this sad case of violence against an infant that has shocked the state of Georgia. The woman is detained and without the possibility of bail.
