A 70-year-old grandmother was arrested in Georgia after the savage attack by two pit bull dogs that killed her grandson on Tuesday, whom she was caring for.

According to various sources, Sandra Adams was babysitting the 20-month-old, Paris Adams, and she had two pit bull dogs inside her home and two more outside protected by a fence.

According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), the woman and child were outside the house and when she opened the door to enter, "the dogs went out the back door, knocked Adams to the ground, and they attacked the boy."

Adams and the boy's mother took him to an emergency clinic, where he died.

Authorities ordered an autopsy on the minor this Wednesday and arrested the grandmother, who was released on bail of $ 50,000.

Police in the area had previously received complaints about those dogs, police officer Anthony Davis of Hartwell Township told the Athens Banner-Herald newspaper. "The two dogs that were inside the house were the ones that [attacked the boy]," Harvey Byrum, the woman's neighbor, told WSBTV Atlanta television station. “There were always calls to his house, about the loose dogs, barking, being a plague. I think one of them chased someone, didn't bite him but chased him."

The GBI confirmed that "[Adams] had been mentioned multiple times by the Hartwell Police Department under a city ordinance to subdue unruly animals."

According to reports from People magazine, the police conducted a series of interviews with people close to the family after the attack. Adams now faces second-degree murder charges and two other unspecified minor offenses, plus involuntary murder and second-degree child cruelty. The animals, for their part, will be euthanized as a result of the incident.
