Another surprising personal attack on a New York train station ended in tragedy, after a 65-year-old man died when attacked by a teenager.

According to The New York Times, Jacinto Suarez, who is the father of ten children, was waiting for the train yesterday afternoon at the Jay Street-MetroTech station in Brooklyn when Edward Cordero, 18, allegedly attacked him.

Witnesses told the media that the young man was wandering around the station and talking only in the surroundings until he surprisingly approached the old man, who extended his arm to keep the teenager away. The young man walked away, but soon after he returned to hit Suarez, who fell onto the tracks. No train was passing at that time which prevented it from being run over. However, he died when he was transferred to a nearby hospital.

Authorities are waiting for the coroner's office to determine the cause of death so they can prepare the appropriate charges against Cordero.

The New York Post reported that the victim was returning home after visiting the Social Security office to see why her retirement check had not yet reached her.

According to her daughter Tylenea González, 34, before her fateful trip she had joked with the family saying that she would not return home unless she had her check in hand.

She now remembers her father as a selfless man, who liked to tell jokes and cook. Furthermore, he was helping her raise her three children. "Her nonsense, her smile, she was always dancing with the kids, making jokes."
